Sierra Leone Annual Conference gets underway

The 142nd Annual Session of the Sierra Leone Conference started with a caution from Interim Bishop Warner H. Brown, Jr. calling on members of the conference to approach the nomination process as a spiritual matter and not as a secular matter. “Don’t let someone make you to hate someone who you have been knowing for so long because of the nomination process” he warned.  He challenged the gathered United Methodists in Bo City to maintain the unity that make us the church.

In his opening message on Thursday, March 3, 2022, Bishop Brown urged members of the conference who disagree with each other to engage with respect as the children of God. “Whether we like the other people or not, God created these people just like us,” Bishop Brown asserted.  He also urged them to slow down and listen to what God is saying to the United Methodist Church in Sierra Leone about the nomination process, adding, “if we are listening, we will stop talking too much.”

The conference continues Friday, March 4, 2022, with Bishop delivering his Episcopal Address.
